Calendar change approved

The Board of Education has approved a revision to this year’s school calendar. Two professional development days were added for our staff. Students will not attend on the following days due to the staff inservice:

Monday, November 27                 Tuesday, February 20

Attendance is a Community Matter

As your family is an important part of the community at large, your child is a consequential piece of the classroom community. Not only does your child miss out on crucial lessons and connections with classmates, but the classroom community is fragmented when all members are not present. While there are valid instances when students need to be out of school, such as due to illness, we urge you to refrain from removing your child from school for reasons that are not emergent, such as vacation. If you must schedule during the school year, an Application for Waiver of Compulsory Attendancemust be completed and turned in to the building principals two weeks in advance of the date for which approval is requested. This process is in response to HB 410, detailed in the September 1 newsletter about Attendance Awareness Month.
