Issue 21 -- Perkins PI Levy Renewal -- NO NEW TAXES

It is often the case that Permanent Improvement projects affect systems and items that need replaced district wide at the same time. In other cases, it takes several years for complete replacement or upgrades to occur.

Fire alarm system upgrades:

  • All four school buildings were upgraded with installation of new and additional smoke and heat detectors.

Drinking Fountain replacement:

  • In the process of replacing 21 older drinking fountains with new filtered water bottle filling fountains district wide. We have a total of 6 replaced and 15 to go.

Window Blind Replacement:

  • Replaced original window curtains with new vertical blinds. Ongoing process for last few years and years to come.

Smaller scale, specific building-focused projects were completed this summer as well at Furry and the Maintenance Department.

Furry Multi-purpose room:

  • Wall cracks and joints were repaired, portion of ceiling repaired and painted, all walls painted along with all doors.

Maintenance Office restoration:

  • Ceilings replaced with a new ceiling grid system with new LED light fixtures.
  • Floor tile was replaced with repairs to certain sections.
  • Electrical was re-configured along with new data wiring.
  • Fresh coat of paint

Maintaining safe buildings is a primary focus for our district and the Permanent Improvement levy is the means by which we are able to make these needed repairs, replacements, abatement, energy-saving  and often security and safety-related upgrades to our facilities. During this five-year cycle we have also added security cameras, installed cross connection back flow preventers to all city water supplies entering the buildings, replaced our 2-way radios and purchased replacement buses. These vital assets cover all corners of the district, every building and grounds to make the best use of our resources in serving our students and community.
