At Perkins Schools, we believe that it is important to involve parents and community members in our school culture, and we welcome those who wish to volunteer in our schools!

There are several different ways to apply your time, talents, and resources whether you volunteer in our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), join Band or Athletic Boosters, or want to help your child’s teacher in the classroom or on a field trip.

1. The first step will be to sign up for fingerprints and a background check. Safety is a top priority for Perkins Schools and we do our due diligence to make sure our volunteers are suitable to interact with our students. (More information below.)

2. The second step will be to reach out to the group either by emailing the leader/teacher or attending a meeting and sharing your talents. There are opportunities to volunteer whether you have just a little bit of time or a lot of time—we appreciate it all!

All parents, guardians and/or other adults wishing to volunteer in the classrooms and schools or to chaperone/accompany students on a field trip must have a BCI background check less than 5 years old on file in the Administrative Services Center.

If you have lived in the state of Ohio for at least 5 years, you only need the BCI background check. If you have resided in Ohio less than 5 years, an FBI background check must also be completed.

Background check documentation is valid for 5 years from the date of completion for volunteering or chaperoning. A new background check must be submitted to the Administrative Services Center every 5 years to remain on our list of approved volunteers. Please see the list below for background check locations in the area.
