Perkins Welcomes 6 New Faculty Members

Six teachers and staff members join the Perkins Local School District staff for the start of the 2021-2022 school year. The new staff members have a range of experience.

The new staff are:

Megan ElmlingerMegan Elmlinger, a Behavior Specialist, will be based in the district’s Administrative Service Center and work with students and families throughout the district. Mrs. Elmlinger has eight years teaching experience in grades K-5 at Maumee City Schools. She has a master’s degree in Integrated Curriculum with a focus in Learning Behavioral Specialist.

 

 

 

Janine DuboisJanine Dubois is the newest member of Meadowlawn’s 5th grade team. She recently moved to Sandusky from Connecticut. Mrs. Dubois has six years experience and an extensive background in the social and emotional needs of students, coupled with a strong pedagogical background in 5th grade language arts.

 

 

 

Kamryn GeroldKamryn Gerold, a Sandusky native, is the newest member of Perkins Schools’ Intervention Specialist team, and will work primarily with the 3rd grade students with special needs at Meadowlawn Intermediate School. She has two years experience and worked previously at South-Western City School District in Grove City. She is the daughter of Meadowlawn Intermediate School Principal Jeremy Hiser and a 2015 graduate of Perkins High School.

 

 


Brooke MarsinickBrooke Marsinick is the new 2nd grade teacher at Furry Elementary, and will fill the vacancy created after teacher Charles Weyer took over as physical education teacher at Furry. (Mr. Weyer took the position previously held by Lori Hafner, who retired at the end of the 2020-2021 school year.) Mrs. Marsinick previously was a full-time substitute teacher at Meadowlawn. She is married to Perkins Schools Resource Officer Jacob Marsinick.

 

 

Catherine SchildCatherine Schild will teach preschool at Furry Elementary. She comes to Perkins Schools with six years of experience from the Huron County Board of Developmental Disabilities, where she served a primary classroom of students with intensive needs. 

 

 

 

Hannah MathiasHannah Mathias is the new music teacher at Furry Elementary, and takes the position vacated by Lori Conkey, who retired at the end of the 2020-2021 school year. Ms. Mathias worked as substitute teacher for Perkins Schools last school year. She has six years experience, including five years at Tiffin City Schools, where she was an elementary school music teacher, and the 2019-2020 school year at Milford Exempted Village Schools as an elementary school teacher.

 

 

 

Other staffing changes include:

  • Tammy Didion, who had been a secretary at Furry Elementary, will become a paraprofessional at Furry,
  • Carrie Frazier, who had been a cafeteria aide at Furry, will become a paraprofessional at Furry, and 
  • Kimberly Deming, who had worked on the cafeteria staff at Furry, will be a secretary in the Furry office.
