Perkins High School presents the musical adaptation of Roald Dahl’s popular children’s book “Matilda” as the spring musical.
Senior Jasmine King is in the lead role as Matilda, a young girl who is an outcast in her own family. PHS junior Brodie Bibler plays Matilda’s dishonest father, and sophomore Cadence Bryant is cast as the girl’s self-absorbed mother.
The story follows young Matilda as she escapes her unhappy home life by reading and daydreaming at the local library, where she befriends a compassionate librarian, Mrs. Phelps, played by sophomore Madison Johnson.
When Matilda is enrolled in school, she encounters a frightening headmistress played by senior Katelyn Showalter and a delightfully nurturing teacher played by senior Noelle Showalter.
The musical is filled with amazing acting and the sweet singing voices of our talented Perkins High School performers. The show also includes several dance numbers.
“Matilda” is directed by PHS literature teacher Shana DeRose Smith with the musical direction by PHS band teacher Chris Zanella and choir director Randy Gernovich. The choreography is by Furry Elementary teacher Pamela Shirtz.
The musical will be performed in the Perkins High School auditorium at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, Friday, March 31, and Saturday, April 1. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online by clicking here.
