Program PhilosophyPerkins Strength and Conditioning is committed to developing the COMPLETE athlete by providing data-driven, evidence-based scientific programming that emphasizes injury resilience, movement proficiency, and athletic performance.
We Will:
- Master the Five Fundamental Movement Patterns: Push, Pull, Squat, Hinge, Carry
- Build a Foundation of Strength - progressing appropriately through our Long-Term Athletic Development Continuum
- Increase Strength to Enhance Force Production, and translate that into more explosive athletic performance
- Develop Speed, Agility, and Change-of-Direction Skills
- Apply an Athlete-Based Training Approach - guided by the principles of Progressive
- Overload, and the Specific Adaptations to Imposed Demands (SAID)

The Iron Pirate Newsletter is Perkins Local Schools’ official strength and conditioning seasonal newsletter, providing updates on student-athlete achievements, training highlights, program insights, and resources to support performance development throughout the school year.
Team Training Schedule
Stay informed and up to date on all team training sessions to help plan transportation and attendance. All times are subject to change or cancellation, so check the calendar regularly.
Priority Scheduling:
- In-Season: Mandatory twice per week around practice and competition.
- Off-Season: is open to any student-athlete not currently in-season, scheduled as availability allows.

Meet Coach Webb
Coach Travis Webb was named Director of Strength and Conditioning at Perkins Local Schools in January 2025. He oversees the development and implementation of training for all 7th–12th grade student-athletes within the district, utilizing the school’s 3,100-square-foot weight room.
Coach Webb brings a diverse background in performance training, with experience across private, public, and collegiate settings.
Before joining Perkins, he spent two years at Marvin Ridge High School, where he helped the Mavs Strength and Conditioning Program earn National Recognition as a “Program of Excellence” by the National High School Strength Coaches Association (NHSSCA). During his tenure, he was also honored as the 2024 North Carolina Strength Coach of the Year.
Prior to his time at Marvin Ridge, Coach Webb served as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach and Return to Play Coordinator at Cannon School (NC), where he led athlete rehabilitation initiatives and supported strength programming across all sports. He also spent time with the University of Massachusetts Amherst Football program as part of their strength and conditioning staff, assisting with player development, speed training, and daily weight room operations for the Division I program.
Coach Webb is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He also holds certifications with USA Weightlifting (USAW) and is High School Strength Coach Certified (HSSCC) through the NHSSCA.
