Impact Aid and Student Success & Wellness Funds

Perkins Local Schools utilized Disadvantaged Pupil Impact Aid, Student Wellness and Success Funds and other funding sources.

Our district social worker serves as the district's homeless liaison. In this role, they identify possible misplaced youth and reach out to them and their families with resources. These resources include food, housing support, wrap around services, transportation, lunch waivers, and more.  Also, this role oversees the food stability program in our district, which includes snack pantries for students and weekly grocery deliveries. Our district social worker  manages the counseling and case management of our students within the school buildings. Scheduling, updates to staff and families, and act as the bridge between outside supports and the school.  Our social worker runs groups with students 5th-8th grade (typically girl empowerment groups). The goal of our social worker is to address more gaps in our district with group support by engaging with outside agencies to fill our needs (LGBTQ support groups, etc).

In Perkins school district, we have a universal social emotional screener.  This program is completed in each of our four buildings, implemented by our teachers, and supported by our district social worker. Keeping awareness in our buildings with trainings for mandated reporting, suicide/self-harm awareness events, and an LGBTQ support presence for our students is an important task this funding allows the attention required to such sensitive situations.

Lastly, this funding allows our social worker to coordinate with  outside agencies and welcome into our buildings to help families access these resources "where they are".  The Perkins Local Schools host a Back to School Bash annually with over 20 agencies in attendance providing outreach to our families.
