PYT To Debut With 'Honk! Jr.'

Prepared to be wowed by the youngest thespians at Perkins Local Schools. 

This weekend, Perkins Youth Theatre will present its first production, Honk! Jr. The troupe was organized this school year and has been rehearsing since last fall.

Honk! Jr. is a familiar story – The Ugly Duckling – told as a musical. It will unfold on the stage of Perkins High School Auditorium. 
The show is filled with amazing acting and extravagant voices. The cast includes more than 40 students in Grades 3-8 from Meadowlawn Intermediate School and Briar Middle School. 

Elyse Miller, a 3rd grader, plays the lead character of Ugly, Abby Balduf, an 8th grader, plays Ida, Ugly’s mother, and Mason McDowell, a 5th grader, plays Drake, Ugly’s father. Watch – and listen – for Cat, the villain in this show, who is played by 4th grader Kennedy Carter.

Jodie Fleming-Arnold, the wife of Meadowlawn Assistant Principal Dwayne Arnold, directs PYT’s production of Honk! Jr. Furry Elementary music teacher Hannah Mathias is the musical director and Pamela Shirtz, a reading teacher at Furry, choreographed the musical.

Honk! Jr. will open at 7 p.m. on Friday, and continue with a performance at 7 p.m. on Saturday, and a matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday. 
The performance will be in the PHS Auditorium. Tickets are available online at the Perkins Box Office.
